Mitch Jacobson is an Emmy®-nominated producer, director, editor, and advanced workflow consultant with over four decades of experience shaping the landscape of media and entertainment.
As the founder of Category Five Studios (NYC | Palm Beach), he bridges the gap between high-end creative vision and cutting-edge technical execution.
Dubbed the “Concert Master” by CineMontage magazine, Mitch’s editorial portfolio includes feature-length concert films for global icons such as U2, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Paul McCartney (which earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination), and Alicia Keys. His extensive broadcast credits span major networks and platforms, including Netflix, MTV, CBS, PBS, Discovery, and ABC, with prime-time editing turns on America’s Got Talent and The Rachael Ray Show.
A pioneer in multi-camera live production, Mitch specialized early on in live sports for CBS and ESPN before evolving into a premier architect for global live-streaming events. His recent milestone credits include the 2024 Paris Olympics Global Concert Livestream and “The Art of Music in Film” the first show broadcast “Live from Metaverse” at the Cannes Film Festival.
As a sought-after technical consultant, Mitch designs and integrates advanced studio workflows utilizing IP video, virtual production, Unreal Engine, and AWS Cloud technologies. His elite clientele includes the World Economic Forum, Harvard Leadership Studio, Twitch/Amazon Studios, ABC, and MSNBC.
A passionate educator and published author of Mastering Multi-Camera Techniques, Mitch is a certified master trainer for Blackmagic Design and VizRT/NewTek. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC, mentors the next generation via Reel Works, and frequently keynotes at National Association of Broadcaters (NAB) in Las Vegas. He is a proud member of IATSE Local 700 (Motion Picture Editors Guild), IBEW, CSI, and SMPTE.
