Starting tonight at 10 PM I’ll be cutting live to MTV.com and the broadcast channel for a special program as part of the MTV Break-the-record week called Beyoncé Dance-a-Thon. It runs all night long for 24 hours till about 10 PM tomorrow.

It’s a technically fun show as we took over the studio as a control room and rigged it up like a M*A*S*H unit with 8 foot folding tables around the perimeter as stations for the technical director (that’s me), the director and the legendary Jenn Burland doing graphics. There is also a producers work area and MTV.com is set up using a bunch of laptops to encode and distribute the show to the web and social media.
I’m swinging two TriCasters tonight- one primary TriCaster 8000 switching the main show using two RF cameras on Broadway and one on the roof over Times Square. The second TriCaster is a backup unit that fully mirrors the first TriCaster -just Incase the first one goes down.
